Hey y'all! I just wanted to drop in to introduce myself and say how excited I am to be here serving the families in our community!
A little bit about me ⤵️
My name is Alana (pronounced uh-LAY-nuh)
I'm a born & raised FL girl who still somehow despises the heat 😅 I'm a mama of two very energetic boys & the wife to an incredibly supportive man 💕 I cry about just about anything, happy or sad, and I love all things crafty! My favorite place to be is at the beach for a fun & relaxing day 🌞 God is at the center of my life, and who I am today is a direct reflection of the work He has done in my heart 🙏
Now for the birthy vibes ⤵️
My journey in birth work began with my first birth, although I didn't know it until much later. When my son was nearly 2, I heard the term doula and my mind started racing! You mean to say, that all of that mistreatment and lack of support during my first birthing experience COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED?! By hiring a DOULA?! 😱 As I dove into more research, my heart quickly caught 🔥fire🔥 with a deep passion to BE that support that I so desperately needed in my birth. During my studies, I became pregnant with my second! I was so excited to birth with this new knowledge that I had gained about my body, my rights, labor positions & comfort measures, and so many more #birthythings!
I hand-picked my entire birth team, and WOW. What a MAJOR difference!
Though it didn't go entirely as planned or hoped for (birth almost never does), I still felt so supported throughout my entire pregnancy & birth. The challenges I faced taught me a lot about the importance of having the right support and the ability to openly & honestly communicate with them to achieve a healthy & peaceful birth. My experience really solidified the passion that I have for supporting birthing families in the most magical time of their lives.
After having my second, I attended a few (AMAZING 😍) births, then took a break to be full time mama & wife. I've been aching to get back to the beautiful world of birth, and now I am finally in a season of life where I am able to be a full time #birthdoula and serve our community. I am THRILLED to be back & to be a part of Happy Waves! 😁

When babies call me I always answer! Yesterday I got to visit with a birthing team to aid them in preparing for their first home birth. We talked about balance, baby’s position, upright positions for both active and resting postures, engagement, and a slough of other birthy things! The midwifery team and I also got to connect before the big day making our communication plans and mom’s preferences crystal clear. The best part? We all had a very cute and special helper!! He’s so excited to meet his little sister so very soon!

That’s right guys, doulas are back in-person at your hospital births!!!
